WPA Announce Two New World Ranking Events for 2011
WPA President, Ian Anderson, has today announced that their will be two further world ranking events in the 2011 season due to be held in the Middle East.
The news comes off the back of the success of the WPA World 9-ball Championships currently being held in Doha, Qatar.
Anderson went on to say, “The WPA feels itself quite fortunate to be aligned with organizers of such high quality. We look forward to the opening of these two new events with a great deal of excitement and wish to thank them for the opportunities that their efforts are creating for professional billiard players and their fans.”
The first of the new ranking events, The Dubai Open, will take place in Dubai in the spring of 2011, this will be followed up later in the year with the Emir Cup to be held in Doha, Qatar.
Both of the new events highlight the surge in popularity that pool has experienced in the region, this is topped by the WPA World 9-ball Championships that has been confirmed for Qatar until the 2013 season.
More concrete information regarding prize money and field sizes will be made available shortly.
