World Pool Association Choose Manila for General Assembly
The World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) has recognized the Philippines as one of the prime movers of the sport.
It’s thus no surprise that the world’s governing body has decided to hold its general assembly of officers and members in Manila on Nov. 27 at the Heritage Hotel coinciding with the World Ten Ball Championship that the country will be hosting.
The announcement was made by WPA president Ian Anderson through an email to Yen Makabenta, chairman of Raya Sports, organizer of the Nov. 25-30 WTBC at the World Trade Center.
“I would like to inform you that I have chosen Manila as the venue for our upcoming general assembly of the WPA,” Anderson said in the letter.
Anderson added that representatives from all continental members of the WPA will be coming over “not only to discuss important matters in the sport but also to see great matches taking place in this most prestigious event (WTBC).”
Arriving are executives from the six continental federations – the European Pocket Billiards Federation (EPBF), Asian Pocket Billiards Union (APBU), Billiards Congress of America (BCA), All African Pool Association (AAPA), Confederacion Panamerican de Billar (CPB) and the billiards association from Oceania.
