Daryl PeachAfter around about 2 and a half years away the WPA World 9-ball Pool Championships returns this month in Qatar. The event, last won by Britain’s Daryl Peach back in 2007, has had problems with sponsors and venues over the past two years but finally the event has taken over the date and venue of the former Qatar Open.

All of the world’s best pool players will be in attendance looking to lift the title and take home a share of the $250,000 prize money. The field will include the aforementioned Daryl Peach who will of course be looking to defend his title. In addition to Peach, newly crowned WPA World 8-ball Champion, Karl Boyes, will also be playing alongside another of our former champions, Darren Appleton.

The event kicks off on 29th June and runs until July 5th at the Qatar Snooker & Billiard Federation (QSBF) headquarters. The QSBF have gone to great lengths to make this event happen and are also acting as the headline sponsor on this occasion.

The event is being broadcast by Qatar TV (Alkass) who are supposedly providing the pictures to global networks. This is yet to be confirmed and also what coverage will be supplied.

Next week Cuesportnews.com will have an exclusive interview with reigning World Champion Daryl Peach so come back and read it here first.

Any news we receive about this event we will post as soon as we know anything.
