Trump Beats O’Sullivan in Snooker’s Premier League

Judd Trump last night showed that he has the class of a true champion by inflicting Ronnie O’Sullivans first defeat in this years Premier League Snooker.

in the table, came storming out of the blocks and won the first frame with a tidy break of 67. As we come to expect O’Sullivan was able to bounce back in frame two with breaks of 48 and 44.

Trump did not dwell on the scoreline though and showed true class to take a 2-1 lead with a break of 79.

With more good solid match snooker Trump was able to extend his lead to 3-1 knowing that he was guaranteed at least a point from the match. He further improved this to a 4-1 lead with a battling victory in the fifth. O’Sullivan would have booked himself a spot in the semi-finals with victory in this match but he now had to try and save face as best as possible knowing the match was now out of his hands. It was the 3-times world champion that did win the final frame but it will be Judd Trump with the confidence to go on and solidify a place in the semi-finals of his first Premier League.

Trump is hailed by many as the next big thing in snooker and this victory will give him masses of belief, it is also only the fifth match O’Sullivan has lost out of 45 matches since 2005.

In the other match Marco Fu sitting rock bottom of the Premier League table and without a win had a tough test against UK Championship Winner Neil Robertson. It was the Australian who added further frustration to the man from Hong Kong with a 4-2 victory.

There are only two more league nights available to book places in the semi-finals which are held at the end of November.
