Third New Sponsor in a Month for World Snooker
Well Barry Hearn certainly seems to be using his contacts well since taking over as Chairman of World Snooker.
The Matchroom Sport supremo has now added a third brand new sponsor to the mix in around a month.
The latest, Sanyuan Foods, will sponsor next months China Open in Beijing. Barry Hearn commented on the news on the World Snooker website, “This is our third title sponsorship announcement within the last few weeks and it’s another piece of great news for our sport. Very quickly, we’ve moved from a position of struggling for sponsors, to having one on board for all but one of our televised professional tournaments. China is snooker’s most vibrant growth area and I’m very excited about the commercial potential there, so this announcement is another step forward. We look forward to working with the team at Sanyuan, as well as the CBSA, promoter International Sports Ltd and our other partners, on another successful tournament.”
Peter Ebdon will be looking to defend his China Open title when the event kicks off on the 29th March, he will be hoping to still be in contention after a poor season when the tournament closes on the 4th April.
The Sanyuan Foods World Snooker China Open qualifiers are currently underway at Prestatyn in North Wales.
