Global Snooker has ‘unofficially’ launched an exciting new tournament that many believe will put the Twenty20 factor into the sport.
ONEFORSEVEN is being branded as Snooker’s ‘New Maximum’, an innovative incarnation of tournament snooker that can condense all of the action of a major snooker event into one-day.
A player will take on seven opponents, each for twenty-one minutes. At the end of the allocated ’147-minutes’, the player with the highest score will be deemed the winner.

Former World Champion Mark Williams has bounced back after a couple of poor seasons, and a broken wrist, to reach his first ranking event semi-final in three years.
Williams defeated a lacklustre Robert Milkins 5-2 in the evening session at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall and performed a lot better than his match against Stephen Hendry in the second round. Ryan Day will play Matthew Stevens this week in the first quarter final of the 2009 TCC Snooker Pro-am. The all-welsh affair will be screened live online by Cuesport TV exclusively to subscription holders.
The tournament, that started in June, is now reaching the business end with a second quarter final between Darren Morgan and defending champion, Lee Walker, taking place on table two the same evening. Following this match will be the first semi final match to see who will reach the final on 13th August.

The Tredegar Constitutional Club in Newport will once again be the venue for the TCC Pro-am. This small club in Newport with only two snooker tables will host the likes of Mark Williams, Shaun Murphy and Matthew Stevens.
Played every Thursday night starting on the 25th June until the final on August 6th, this tournament manages to attract big names and some very talented amateurs despite only carrying a £1750 first prize.
It is of course great match practice for the brand new season that starts late in July with the qualifiers …
