2010 World Snooker Championships Underway

The tournament that all snooker fans wait all year for is now fully underway at the Crucible. The 2010 Betfred.com World Snooker Championships will no doubt entertain and may also throw up a few surprises along the way as well.
The first man through to round 2 was the defending champion, John Higgins, who came through a potentially tricky tie against Barry Hawkins. After trailing early on Higgins found another gear and won the match 10-6 to set up a match against either Mark King or Steve Davis.

Doherty Does Demolition Job on Swail

1997 World Snooker Champion, Ken Doherty, has been the latest former champion to make a return to the Crucible for this years Championships.
He absolutely demolished Joe Swail in the final round of qualifying with a 10-1 scoreline. The Irishman, who made two breaks of 74 one of 67 and a break of 81 when on a 147 chance, strolled into the TV stages.

Doherty Dumped out of Six Red World Championships

Ken Doherty’s bid to win the inaugural 888sport.com Six Reds World Championship ended in a 5-4 defeat to Adam Duffy at the INEC in Killarney today.
Doherty fought back from 3-1 down to lead 4-3 but lost the last two frames as his campaign came to a halt in the last 32.
The 1997 15 red world champion was among the organisers for the first World Championship played under the shorter format.

Shocks Galore at Shanghai Masters

It was a very strange day for snooker top stars as we reached day two in the 2009 Roewe Shanghai Masters.
The early match featured reigning champion Ricky Walden who in relation to other players throughout the day had a very easy passage into round two with a 5-1 victory over Mark King.
