Snooker Pro Challenge Three Underway
Snooker’s Pro Challenge Series returned yesterday with event three being held at Willie Thorne’s Snooker Centre in Leicester.
This event has attracted 52 entries from snooker’s professional tour the most notable being World Number 6, Ryan Day. Unfortunately for Day his time at the event was short lived as he came up against Stuart Bingham in round 1 and lost 4-2. With no seedings in operation it makes for a very interesting tournament.
Other top 16 players include Mark Williams, Mark King and Joe Perry. Williams was another early casualty having lost his opener against Jamie Cope 4-1. Cope is a man many in the industry believe is on the cusp of winning a fully fledged ranking event.
The players competing in these competitions are of course gaining invaluable match practice in a season with only 6 full world ranking events. For players inside and outside the top 16 it can bring a little bit of form in advance of the UK Championship qualifiers and then the main event in December.
Other famous names competing in this one include Ricky Walden, Judd Trump, Ken Doherty (who won a round of the series earlier this year) and Graeme Dott.
