Ronnie O’Sullivan defeated Marco Fu in emphatic style to win his first Premier League match of the new season. The 4-2 victory included 3 centuries the best of which was a 133 that won him the third frame. This victory gives O’Sullivan a massive start to his title defence, he is gunning for his sixth consecutive Premier League title.Ronnie with trophy - www.matchroomsport.com

Although his performance looked good to the fans Ronnie had this to say after the match, “I know there were three centuries but my game wasn’t great and there were some loose shots out there, Marco had plenty of opportunities but didn’t take them so the scoreline probably flattered me a bit.”

A typical retort from the perfectionist that is O’Sullivan. He is looking for his ninth Premier League title in all and will remain the bookies favourite on the back of this performance.

Fu was completely outclassed by the rocket and failed to make a break above 83, ironically this break won him the final frame of the night.

The first game of the night was between the two debutants. The match start with a blaze of high class snooker as Judd Trump banged in the first century of this years tournament in his first ever Premier League frame. His 139 clearance in frame one was the highlight of the match.

Robertson rallied well and played some very good snooker himself to grind out a 4-2 victory putting him second in the table after just one match.

The Premier League returns in two weeks with Shaun Murphy v John Higgins and Judd Trump v Stephen Hendry.
