Keynsham Return for 8-ball Super Tour
The 2009 8-Ball Super Tour returns to Keynsham Snooker Centre this weekend for event number three in the series.
At the first event back in August, Keysham was the venue for a very tense and at-times controversial final between Irishman Ronan McCarthy and former WEPF 8-ball World Champion, Carl Morris. A match that lasted well over two hours and was made controversial by an outburst from Carl Morris aimed at tournament referee Mel Harley over signalling of the shot clock.
“I have known Carl for many years, and because he is deaf we have always arranged that I make the 30 second call in a specific way. When I did the same thing here Carl seemed to take offence hence the outburst.” Said Harley.
He went on to say, “I spoke with Carl at the end of the game and asked him never to put me in that position again and I think that it will be the end of it, I knew the importance of the win for both players involved.”
That aside Morris did go on to take an 8-6 victory to give him the lead in the series after the first event. It was not to be the end of it though as the same two players met in the quarter-finals of event two in Leicester. This time is was McCarthy who got the win and the Irishman went on to reach his second final in consecutive tournaments. He had also been performing extremely well on the IPA Tour so was certainly the man in form.
In the final McCarthy came up against Welshman Craig Marsh, Marsh who reached the semi-finals in the same venue last year had played awesome all weekend. This match was his first ever 8-ball Super Tour final and possibly his first ever WEPF World Rules final as well, he is more known for the Blackball ruleset.

Craig Marsh in action
It was a very quick final and for the second time in a row Ronan McCarthy was beaten by 8 frames to 6 giving Marsh the title and his first ever tournament victory on Cuesport TV.
Marsh said after the match, “I am delighted with how I played, Ronan is a great player, but when I got in front I knew that I could go on and win the match.”
This weekend McCarthy, Morris and Marsh will all be in action again looking to win the title and the £2700.00 first prize. All of the action can be watched online at Cuesport TV from 12.00pm on Saturday 24th October.
