Pool Player’s Choice of Wear – Fashion or Playability?

Looking around the room, there is a range of choice of clothing in which to compete for approximately £3000. I would consider this quite a fair amount of money, of which, if I was playing to win, I would seriously consider what I’m wearing and how it will affect my state of play.
For example, I am currently watching two fairly young players, whom will remain nameless, one of whom is dressed plainly in blue jeans, black polo shirt and comfortable white trainers. The other has obviously taken more interest in …

There’s an Ice Rink Around the Corner…

“There is no pleasing pool players” goes the oft quoted mantra, and judging by the regular and sometimes gruesome evisceration (metaphorical, sometimes….) of almost everything and everyone associated with the game, far from there being a grain of truth in the statement, there is a boulder sized lump of both perceptiveness and clarity in it.
The problem may stem from the standards set by some truly brilliant clubs across the country. When players that travel see the way things can be, the natural progression is to ask why on earth things …

Morris Lifts Super Tour Title

Carl Morris put in an almost flawless performance to lift the first event in this years £48,000 8-Ball Super Tour.
The former WEPF World 8-Ball Champion came up against Irishman Ronan McCarthy in the final and led the match throughout, he eventually lifted the title with an 8-6 win.
The match was marred slightly by an altercation between Carl Morris and referee Melvyn Harley, this heated debate came about through the way Mel was signalling the 30 second time call. Normally this is signalled verbally, but as Carl is deaf a hand …

A Female Perspective

I’m gonna have a bit of a rant now.
I come from one of the most bitchiest professions in the world – the performing arts. I have been a dancer practically all my life and the competition is high – and so are the comments. To be a dancer you have to be dedicated, know your “equipment”, have the proper training, get a variety of styles under your belt to be an all rounder. I can equate this to pool.
As I sit back and watch those who are best at this …
