Francisco Bustmante has defeated Tohru Kuribayashi 9-6 to advance into the single elmination phase of the 2010 World 9-ball Championships. He joins Britains Scott Higgins, who went through last night, Yang Ching Shun and Stephan Cohen in the comfort of being two and through.

A bit of a wait though for Karl Boyes, the current WPA World 8-ball Champion, who was sent to the west side of the chart this morning by Tony Drago. Drago is another that goes two and through to the KO phase with the 9-4 victory.

Further big-name casualties being sent to the one-loss side include Charlie Williams, Rodney Morris and Thomas Engert. Engert was defeated by another Brit, Craig Osborne 9-8. This win is one of Osborne’s biggest of his career and now into the KO phase he will have every confidence that he can get the job done.

There are many matches still being played in the 2pm session including matches for Chris Melling, Dennis Orcollo, Johnny Archer and Marcus Chamat.

The next sessions starts at 4pm which will conclude the winners side matches and have the second round of the one-loss side to determine who next will be on the trip home.
