Billiard Champions to Compete for World Title
The 2009 Free Pyramid World Billiards Championship will take place in Novosibirsk, Russia on October 17th-21st.
Incumbent World Champion, Kanybek Sagynbaev of Kyrgyzstan will be leading a four string Kyrgyz team out in Russia that will be looking to lift the title for the second time in a row.
Pyramid has often been regarded as a game for players and not spectators, with the lengths of games becoming drawn out by long safety battles. However, it does not detract from the skill of the game which is played on a 12 foot table with balls of 72mm in diametre and pockets of just 76mm wide in the corners and 86mm in the centre.
Potting a ball requires very accurate aiming and this world championships was first run in 2007 as a new form of Pyramid Billiards.
