The Sangsom 6-Red World Grand Prix will run from the 7th-12th July in Bangkok’s Montien Riverside Hotel. The invitational tournament this year offers around £67,000 in prize money with around £18,000 to the tournaments eventual winner.

In addition to the hefty prize fund by Thai standards the event is also being broadcast on national TV in Thailand.Sangsom 6-Red

A plethora of World stars are attending including Mark Williams, John Higgins and Shaun Murphy who will also be joined by local hero James Wattana.

The event was won by Shanghai Masters champion Ricky Walden last year and the rising star will be looking to defend his title.

Asghar Valika, head of the ACBS, said, “Sixteen to twenty professional cueists from the World Snooker Main Tour, four cueists from Europe, two cueists each from Oceania and Africa; eight cueists from the host country (Thailand) have been confirmed for the event while the remaining cueists would be selectively invited from Bahrain, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Vietnam.”

Once again the tournament will be heavily competitive and it will be a tough tournament to win, group stages will be employed in the first round with the top four progressing to the Last 32 stage.
